Crestor is used for lowering high-cholesterol and triglycerides in a few patients. It also increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL, "good") levels of cholesterol. It is also employed to slow atherosclerosis (narrowing in the arteries) in patients with good blood levels of cholesterol. It is employed together with the right diet. Crestor is definitely an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, also called a "statin." It works by decreasing the creation of certain fatty substances by the body processes, including cholesterol.
