INDICATIONS
Prazosin is within several drugs called alpha-adrenergic (AL-fa ad-ren-ER-jik) blockers. Prazosin relaxes your veins and arteries to ensure that blood can with less effort move through them.
Prazosin is utilized to treat hypertension (high blood pressure levels).

INSTRUCTIONS
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your own prescription label.
Your doctor may occasionally alter your dose to successfully get the best results.
Prazosin lowers blood pressure levels and could cause dizziness or fainting, particularly if you first of all start taking it or as soon as your dose is changed. Call your physician if you have severe dizziness or think that you could faint.
You may feel very dizzy when you first wake. Be careful when standing or sitting up coming from a lying position.
Your hypertension will need to be checked often. Visit your physician regularly.
Keep applying this medicine as directed, even if you feel well. High hypertension often doesn't have any symptoms. You may need to use blood pressure levels medication through out your lifetime.
Some things might cause your blood pressure level to get too low. This includes vomiting, diarrhea, heavy sweating, heart disease, dialysis, a low-salt diet, or taking diuretics (water pills). Tell a medical expert in case you have a prolonged illness that causes diarrhea or vomiting.
DOSAGE

Usual Adult Dose for Congestive Heart Failure:
Initial dose: 1 mg orally 2-3 times each day.
Maintenance dose: 6-15 mg daily given in divided doses.
Usual Adult Dose for Hypertension:
Initial dose: 1 mg orally 2-3 times each day.
Maintenance dose: 6-15 mg daily succumbed divided doses.
Usual Adult Dose for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia:
Initial dose: 1 mg orally 2-3 times per day.
Maintenance dose: 6-15 mg daily given in divided doses.

Active Ingredient: Prazosin
Alpha blocker: A drug that blocks receptors in arteries and smooth muscle. This action relaxes the arteries and contributes to an increase in blood flow and a lower pressure to the charge of hypertension. The action within the urinary tract enhances urinary flow in prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate).
Get emergency medical help if you have some of these signs of a hypersensitive reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of one's face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor immediately in case you have a life threatening side effect such as:
fast or pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
feeling like you might distribute;
trouble breathing;
swelling within your hands, ankles, or feet; or
penis erection that's painful or lasts 4 hours or longer.
Less serious unwanted side effects may include:
mild dizziness;
weakness, tired feeling, drowsiness;
headache; or
nausea.
This is not a complete set of negative effects among others may occur. Call your physician for medical advice about side effects.
You should avoid using prescription drugs in case you are allergic to prazosin or similar medicines such as alfuzosin (Uroxatral), doxazosin (Cardura), silodosin (Rapaflo), tamsulosin (Flomax), or terazosin (Hytrin). Prazosin could cause dizziness or fainting, particularly if you initially begin it or when your dose is changed. Be careful if you drive or do anything whatsoever that will require one to be alert. Avoid standing for long periods of time or becoming overheated during exercise plus hot weather. Avoid waking up too fast from the sitting or lying position, otherwise you can experience dizzy.
Prazosin can affect your pupils during cataract surgery. Tell your eye surgeon ahead of time that you are employing this medication. Do not stop using prazosin before surgery unless your surgeon tells that you.
Tell your medical professional about other medications you have, especially other blood pressure levels medications including diuretics (water pills).
Prazosin may impair your notions or reactions. Be careful should you drive or do anything that will need you to be alert.
FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether prazosin will harm an baby. Tell a medical expert if you're pregnant or want to conceive while using this medication.
