Prilosec is used for treating heartburn or irritation with the esophagus caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It may also be used for short-term treatments for ulcers in the stomach or small intestines. It may also be used with certain antibiotics to deal with ulcers in the small intestines also to help prevent them from ever coming back. It may also be used to deal with conditions that cause your system to generate a lot of stomach acid (eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome). Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by lowering the volume of acid produced in the stomach.

Store Prilosec at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store faraway from heat, moisture, and lightweight. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Prilosec out from the reach of kids and faraway from pets.
